Smells/ Odors

Does anyone else have new crazy sense of smell? Smells I never noticed before treatment are bothering me.

  1. Hi , while you're waiting for input from the community, I thought I'd mention that I poked around and hypersomia can be a side effect of chemo. Our bodies are fascinating! Is it controllable, or is it interfering with your day-to-day? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  2. It is definitely a nearly everyday occurrence. Certain food smells, stores, dirty laundry, perfumes, body odors, rest rooms, etc. I just deal with it best I can.

    1. , Here's an idea I learned as a migraine sufferer - if there are scents that are soothing - like lavender, or even camphor, have you tried rubbing a little under your nose before going places that could have smells that bother me (cinnamon pine cones at this time of year KILL me! and blocking the scent helps). It might help. - Warm (((hugs))), Donna (Team Member)

  3. Oh my, I am with you on those cinnamon pine cones!! I have been using some lavender and rose scents to help. Thank you 🙃

    1. , oh, I'm glad to hear it helps! Ye, those cinnamon pine cones are the bane of my winter existence - instant thunderbolt migraine and nausea - blech! I love lavender and English rose is my absolute favorite scent. - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  4. Yes !!!!. Especially day 4-6 of chemo. The smell is almost like stale urine.everywhere I go. It is not coming from.me just in the living room and bedroom. Goes away by day 7. Thank goodness it's my last chemo.

    1. , oh gosh, that has to be frutrating! Does anything diminish it till you hit day 7? I'm glad to hear this is your last round of chemo! - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)
